Mapping Cultural Heritage
Cultural Heritage has several sectors, operational fields and conseptual approaches (Tangible and Intangible).
With great pleasure and honor, I have coordinated two projects in Greece targeting towards the Dovecotes of Tinos island, Cyclades, Greece, that take into account both aspects of all these issues, and deliver them through one, dedicated platform.
The projects were:
- CODE21 (THE DOVECOTES OF CYCLADES IN 21st CENTURY– CASE STUDY: TINOS ISLAND), which was funded by the Cycladic Identity, Museum of Cycladic Identity (https://www.cycladicidentity.gr/en/), approaching the Open Air Museum approach, connecting the Dovecotes of Tinos island, (Cyclades, Greece) with and related stakeholders as well as with local citizens, tourists, interested end users of the platform with Cultural Heritage issues of the DOVECOTES of Tinos island, 3D Modeling and Web-GIS exploitation
- DOVECOTES (DOVECOTES OF HIDDEN VALUES AND POTENTIAL FOR CYCLADES’ WELLBEING) was funded by the Cyclades Preservation Fund (https://cycladespreservationfund.org/), connecting the Dovecotes of Tinos island, (Cyclades, Greece), local citizens, farmers, visitors and related stakeholders with the elements of agroenvironmental sustainability, 3D Modeling and Web-GIS exploitation

The platform also includes a gallery with dynamically connected images and information of the mapped (and photographed) dovecotes. (the projects have ended but the platform is running).
Also, it includes a 3D model of a Dovecote through a photoshooting and exploiting the images by using a UAV (drone). Additionally, we show the surrounding area of this Dovecote.
