As this blog is dedicated, among others, to the dissemination of multiple sources of geospatial data, related information and operational frameworks, the following post is published with best wishes for further success and development achievements:
All those interested (both staff and students) in "Geo" from all various themes of geography - GNSS, transportation, environment, LBS etc. - are invited to join the Geospatial IG (which is under formation) of the Research Data Alliance.
The purpose of the Research Data Alliance <https://www.rd-alliance.org/> is to accelerate international data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange, use and re-use, standards harmonisation, and discoverability. This will be achieved through the development and adoption of infrastructure, policy, practice, standards, and other deliverables. The RDA is supported by the European Commission, the U.S Government and the Australian Government.
Those interested to join the Alliance are welcomed (just register and subscribe to Geospatial IG, <https://www.rd-alliance.org/internal-groups/geospatial-ig.html/> , so we can start develop future collaborations for building this up. I am looking forward to working with you on this. (This message was sent by Suchith Anand on 7th May 2014, email: Suchith.Anand@nottingham.ac.uk).
